Antipodes

Established in 2015, Antipodes is an asset manager based in Sydney, Melbourne, and London, managing approximately USD $14 billion on behalf of institutional and wealth management clients globally. The firm offers specialist investment strategies across Global Equities, Global Listed Infrastructure, Australian Equities, and Global Credit.

The Global Equities team, led by CIO Jacob Mitchell, employs a multidisciplinary approach focused on delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns over the long term. Through both long-only and long-short strategies, the team combines a pragmatic value philosophy with an industry-led, holistic investment process.

They identify investment opportunities that are mispriced relative to underlying business resilience and growth profile, constructing portfolios with a strong emphasis on capital preservation.

Fund: Antipodes Global Value Fund

Why is the Fund a Fund to Watch?:

  • Great businesses often get mispriced during periods of change - cyclical companies priced as permanently impaired, structural disruptors sustaining tailwinds greater than markets recognize, or socio-macro shifts where institutional biases build within financial systems. Our industry-led research process identifies these asymmetric opportunities by assessing underlying business resilience and growth that markets miss.
  • This approach has delivered strong long-term risk adjusted returns, differentiated from a market increasingly concentrated in North America, with exuberant valuations around a narrow AI capital expenditure theme.Yet AI is hardly the only activity reshaping the world - geopolitical realignment, energy transition, aging demographics are creating profound mispricings that traditional approaches miss. We believe markets are at a turning point where the next cycle’s winners will look very different from previous decades.
  • Allocators seeking diversification, downside protection and exposure to resilient businesses mispriced by change should consider what a pragmatic and nimble approach to value can bring to global equity portfolios. Since 2015, Antipodes has proven this philosophy works – delivering outperformance through the cycle.

Presentation Synopsis:

Value investing needs to move with the times

The value factor has underperformed for a decade, and frustrated allocators have increasingly abandoned the style. Value is now perceived as low quality, cyclical, economically sensitive and littered with disrupted former titans. But at Antipodes, we’ve demonstrated that value can deliver resilient returns in all market conditions by taking a contemporary, flexible approach.
